Mother Earth Womyn’s Gathering – May 23-26, 2013

It’s only one week until the first annual MOTHER EARTH GATHERING WOMYN OF ALL NATIONS, to be held in the sacred site at the Whiteshell, May 23-26, 2013. The reponse from womyn has been overwhelming and we’re looking forward to the gifts each, and every, one of you bring to the group.

We will be setting up a mini-village for the four day gathering of teachings, sacred ceremony and sharing. Everyone will be expected to help out to the best of their ability. This is a no budget – do it yourself – FREE grassroots gathering.

That means – we need everyone (who can) to bring something for the community kitchen. A list appears at the bottom of this page. AND WE STILL NEED DONATIONS TO COVER OUR COSTS! You can donate on this site by PayPal or see contact us for mailing address, or phone to donate by credit card.

Camping at the site is free – TENTING ONLY. You will need your own camping gear (suggested list at the bottom). If you require RV, or other accommodations, there are campground rentals near us and numerous hotels, resorts and bed and breakfasts. You will have to book and pay for these yourself. A google search for resorts in the Whiteshell, Manitoba, will yield many results. See provincial parks listings to book a campsite other than the free area we are offering. If you don’t have email access, or have further questions about accommodation – email borealaction@gmail.com up until May 22, at noon. After that, we will be on site and out of communication.

You may arrive early – but look for us at the site no earlier than Wednesday, May 22.

Commonly asked Questions

Can I bring my children? YES. This is a family friendly event. There will be no childcare, but their will be a kids tee pee for crafts and parents are welcome to help out. Kids can come to sessions with a supervising adult.

Can men come? YES. Supportive men can come and volunteer in the kitchen, or for other duties, as appropriate. The sessions are for the womyn. We have dedicated crew of wonderful men. They will have their own sweats off site, nearby.

Do we have to register? NO, but in order to ensure we have enough food you are asked to bring something to share. See list below.

Are meals provided? The men will cook one hot meal at dinnertime. Other volunteers may pitch in time in the kitchen. Vegan to wild meat, with whatever people bring. It’s like a pot luck in that way. The men may cook other meals – like breakfast. Sandwich fixings, etc. will be out at lunch time. If you are on a special diet – please bring your own food. Suggest you bring snacks, drinks, and extra water. Please don’t keep food in you tent overnight. Little creatures will get into them!

Facilities – port-a-pottie (which are expensive and cleaned daily – so donations are welcome – even encouraged!) The nearby campgrounds have showers, which you can use. There is, also, swimming. No soap, or shampoo, in the water if swimming and kids must be supervised.

Ceremony – There will be a sunrise ceremony in each direction through the four days. The ceremonies will honour in sequence – the red, yellow, black and white nations. Where possible womyn of each nation will conduct their ceremonies after the sunrise pipe ceremonies. Each morning, following these ceremonies, there will be a sweat. Bring skirts, tobacco. There will, also, be a full moon ceremony. Some womyn are going out fasting.

Can I bring my crafts to sell? YES, but their are expectations. This is a spiritual gathering, in which we seek to heal the earth. We need to shift our relationship with material things. If you make something earth friendly, or have seeds, or other organic material to share, or your offering fits the theme of this gathering, you may bring your goods and offer them in the evening after the days teachings are done. We ask you to trade or barter as your first choice and only sell if that isn’t possible. If you do sell, you agree to give 10% of what you make back to the gathering. You must bring your own table/chairs, if you need one, but we suggest you just spread out a blanket – if you can. There will be a coordinator and a space set aside for this. Use good judgement.
